Bandhani is an intricate method of tie-dying fabrics which has been practiced in India since centuries. The word 'bandhani' comes from the Sanskrit word 'bandh', which means 'to tie' or 'to bind'. Very fine knots require a great degree of artisan skill and time, followed by a resist dyeing process to color rest of the fabric. Bawan (fifty two) squares with delicate patterns inside it are created on the Saree through intensive hand knotting. Bawan Bhat is alternativery also known as Bawan Baug.
